Those of you that are old enough may remember we used to think Fungi were a type of plant... ok, maybe none of you are old enough to remember that! BUT it is often a misconception that children think that a mushroom is a type of plant. And at this time of year they may be discovering different types of fungi in their Autumn explorations.
It's quite amazing how important Fungi are in our world, from being used in the processing of leather, transplant operations and even in parts of Lego. Children will be surprised to learn how integral they are. Take a look at this video produced by Kew Gardens in the Endeavour Resources to find out more and support classification in KS2.
