Did you know Fungi are closer to animals than plants?

Those of you that are old enough may remember we used to think Fungi were a type of plant... ok, maybe none of you are old enough to remember that! BUT it is often a misconception that children think that a mushroom is a type of plant. And at this time of year they may be discovering different types of fungi in their Autumn explorations.

It's quite amazing how important Fungi are in our world, from being used in the processing of leather, transplant operations and even in parts of Lego.
