Join in the Signs of Spring survey with your class!

Many strands of the science NC encourage children to collect data on the natural world. In Year 1 we encourage the children to recognise the seasons and all they bring in both the animal and plant world. Further up the school, we look at bulbs growing, habitats, animal and plant life cycles. Using the working scientifically skills of observation and identification are important to help children understand what they have discovered in their investigations.

One great way to do this AND support the Royal Biological Society and Field Study Council is to take part in their Signs of Spring Survey between now and June. They want members of the public to notice when they saw the first - daffodil, snowdrop, dragonfly, butterfly, bumblebee, blubells , catkins and frogspawn. Taking part in this survey gives a real- life context and reason to get your children outside and shows them why it is important to collect data for countrywide reporting
